Using Document Sharing Sites to Promote Your Site
Now, there’s nothing new about docstoc and scribd, but I’ve been posting my ebooks (public domain stuff) on other doc sharing sites, and I’ve noticed a boost in my rankings.
Now, this could be a coincidence, but it’s worth a deeper look.
Despite my finding a bunch of other doc sharing sites I had never heard about before, I am still finding new ones. And ironically, I recently downloaded an ebook that talks about the joys of using doc sharing sites as an alternative to article directories!
Imagine that. Had you ever thought about that? Well, of course I had thought of that as a potential option, because you see all kinds of one-pagers on those sites…but I’d never found a formal write-up on the topic. I’m not finished it yet, so I can’t tell you more….
But here’s a partial list of the sites I have worked with in the past:
scribd.com
gather.com
docstoc.com
4shared.com
issuu.com
calameo.com
yudu.com
myebook.com
docshare.com
esnips.com
edocr.com
free-ebooks.net
empressr.com
authorstream.com
And here’s some presentation sharing sites:
slideboom.com
spongefish.com
slideshare.net
putfile.com (can’t remember if this is one or not)
Some of these sites allow you to add a link into the publication page of each book or file. Most of the time, I guessed that the real benefits would come from links in your profile, and from the links in your pdf docs…since we know Google can index them.
Like I said, there are more sites like these. Just search around. Another option that I’ll bet you’d never thought about are to put your ebooks on file sharing services like Limewire and torrent services. Just go into one of them and search for IM products; you’ll find them. I wonder if people do ok with such things?
Got any other sites you can share here? Please add them to the comments.
