Sticking To One Thing Until You Get It Right
Years ago I read that you should not jump around from thing to thing in the world of internet marketing.
Some big-wig guru was saying you should stick with one method or idea until you make it pay…and THEN move on and try something new.
Now, I take this to mean one of two things.
1) Stick with one or two marketing methods, dominate it, and reap the rewards, or
2) Stick with one money-making method until you learn how to make it pay.
I think there are pros to both ideas. But today, I just wanted to touch on point #2.
I’ve been pushing and pushing on Adsense ideas for years. I’m no expert. I don’t even track my clicks with those super-duper tracking apps so you can see which ads are getting clicked, how much they make, etc. (Though I have installed it on one page, but never looked at it again…a true sign of a failure)
Anyway, though my main niche really sucks and clicks pay like crud, I am sometimes hitting some very good daily numbers. I’m finally starting to make some ok cash with Adsense.
BUT NOW WHAT? Do I:
- Ramp up my traffic and tracking so I can make more with that proven property?
- Change my focus onto another site (like this one?) where I know Adsense clicks will pay much higher? Of course, this will require a lot of work, but I’d just have to duplicate all my work from my other niche, so maybe it won’t be so bad.
- Stop working with Adsense so much and start working with better forms of income like affiliate marketing?
I’m toying with the idea of pursuing option #3.
But I suck at aff marketing and all my previous efforts have fallen on their face. But then, so did all my initial efforts with Adsense.
Time to spend another 4 years learning how to make money with affiliate marketing! Then after 4 years I can move on to writing my own products. Then after another 4 years I can start up some big web service that caters to IMers (ie. sell shovels to Gold Rush people). Then what’s after that?
