Here’s a fitting topic.

Of course, by now you may have guessed that my secret hope is that at some point, marketingfailure.com will become somewhat successful.

So what?  I know a ton of stuff, but am lacking in application.  I also lack in putting the right pieces into the right spots.  I’m sure that I’m only steps away from making a larger amount of cash online than I am now.

Talking about it is fun.  Struggling to make things work is fun.  Watching my rankings go up for my other sites is fun.  Seeing my traffic grow from 40 pageviews a day to 4500 is fun.

But isn’t crazy how some people get 40,000 pageviews a day…so why not me?  Some people make $250 day with 1000 visitors a day…so why not me?

Anyway, since I’m successful in other ways online, I *can* run this marketing blog with some level of authority.   But as I talk about my failures, I’m hoping to help people watch and learn from me, and perhaps make a couple dollars along the way.

As this blog takes shape, I really ought to get around to marketing it.  The FIRST STEP should be keyword research, but I haven’t taken the time yet to figure on any keywords and phrases that are low-hanging fruit for me.

But one thing to consider is the type of person that might like this blog, and that could be other people like me…??  Where to find them?  Probably places like the Warrior Forum and Sitepoint and Digitalpoint.  I guess I should get on that right away.

Or perhaps I should choose only one marketing method…just as a social experiment…and just stick with that?  I have another blog that I mainly only market via articles on ezinearticles.com and so far it hasn’t worked all that well for me.  I have posted perhaps 30 articles there for that blog.  I’ve heard other marketers say that it’s harder these days to get the same results on EZA…that in 2005, 2006, 2007 it was easy to get tons of traffic from 30 articles, but now they find, depending on the niche, it can take up to 80 articles or more.  Anyway, I share that just to illustrate that I like the idea of using one method to market different web properties, just for fun.

My method for this blog?  I think I will use link bait.  That’s going to force me to post some really good content instead of my random ramblings like this post.

Ok…in the meantime, I will keep up these kinds of posts and then perhaps try to post one good super-post each week.

But I still have nothing to sell.  How should I monetize besides Adsense?  I have mentioned Syndicate Kahuhan and that was an affiliate link; yeah, but successful marketers say you should write up a full honest review of the aff products you want to sell.  Yes, but I need someone to come to this blog and read it first!
