How Important Is It To Have Character?
Ever notice how some bigwigs on the net are very open?
What’s more important?
- Being very open with your personal life, or
- Having a lot of character
Or is it both?
I find that whenever I’m very open about my life, while working on my main niche, I get a ton of email from my subscribers. I suppose that’s a part of building a community and what-not. So I suppose that’s good in that sense.
But I don’t like getting tons of email, because my life is crazy-busy as it is. So then I pull back the personal stuff.
So…what about the gurus out there that don’t share tons of personal stuff, but are funny, engaging, and full of personality.
Do these things alone put money in your pocket? No, but I guess if I were a) an amazing writer, b) with tons of character, c) showing you pics of my latest family vacation, it would:
- Build rapport
- Engage you
- Create trust (you trust who you know)
- Make you want to come back and read my blog every day because I’m such a great writer
But I don’t really do any of these things, do I?
Learn from my failures; do the things I’m not doing…and then gloat to me about it when you succeed. That would be funny.
