If I wanted to be successful online, I’d spend a lot more time getting good links.

Sometimes I’ll send off a few link requests, but it’s been a long time.  I did buy SEOElite, but I could never figure out how to use it.  I watched tons of videos, but could never find the one that would just teach me how to find link partners send off link request emails.  $100 down the drain.

So, another way I tackle this is to install SEOQuake into Firefox, then seach my main keyword(s), take a look at the top 10, then run SEOQuake; depending on my mood, I click on the Google or Yahoo links to those top 10 sites, and start looking at those sites that are linking to those top 10.

I’ve had some good success in the past using this technique.  I think in some cases, I would just email those site webmasters and ask for a one-way link.  Other times, I ask for a trade.  Oftentimes, it works.  And I get links.  And I get top 10 rankings.

But I haven’t done it in a long time.  That’s a great way to fail.
